Possible projects at this site could allow the student intern to engage in comprehensive project management of public health education, survey, and evaluation, while promoting positive health outcomes and providing data to address healthcare disparities in the community at large.


Background: Essence Chiropractic is a healthcare provider in the Northwest Arkansas
community. This internship presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with healthcare
professionals and community members while allowing the intern to gain hands-on experience in public health evaluation.

Objectives:

-Community Health Needs Assessment: The intern will create and conduct a
comprehensive assessment to identify community perceptions related to chiropractic care and healthcare in general, particularly focusing on the disparity of outcomes in health as a result of minority status.

-Development of Health Education Materials: The intern will create evidence-based
educational materials focusing on chiropractic care and the disparity of health outcomes in minority communities.

-Implementation of Community Outreach Programs: The intern will design and
execute outreach programs such as informational sessions, social media campaigns, and/or in-person events.

-Evaluation and Impact Assessment: The intern will evaluate the effectiveness of
outreach programs in increasing community knowledge, changing attitudes toward
chiropractic care, and promoting healthier actions.

Methodology:

-Community Needs Assessment: The intern will utilize surveys, focus groups, and/or
interviews to gather data on perceptions of chiropractic care and barriers to accessing healthcare services.

-Health Education Material Development: The intern will collaborate with healthcare
providers and educators to develop visually appealing and evidence-based educational materials.

-Outreach Program Design: The intern will plan and organize outreach events or
campaigns to distribute educational materials, conduct screenings, and/or otherwise engage participants in health promotions.

-Evaluation Framework: The intern will develop surveys to be distributed before and
after events or promotions to assess participant behavior and changes as a result of the educational materials.
Deliverables:

-Community Health Needs Assessment Report: Summary of findings and
recommendations based on the assessment conducted in the community.

-Health Education Materials: Finalized educational materials ready for distribution.

-Outreach Program Implementation Plan: Detailed plan outlining event or campaign
logistics and resources required for successful implementation.

-Evaluation Report: Analysis of survey data and outcomes from programs, highlighting
impact on community education and opinion.


Timeline:
● Weeks 1-2: Conduct community needs assessment and review of extant research
materials.
● Weeks 3-4: Develop draft education materials and outreach campaign framework.
● Weeks 5-6: Adjust materials based on feedback; finalize details.
● Weeks 7-8: Implement programs and distribute education materials.
● Weeks 9-10: Conduct evaluation and data analysis.
● Week 11: Prepare final project report and recommendations.
● Week 12: Present findings and outcomes to Essence Chiropractic and submit final
report to the internship program at the University of Arkansas.

Budget: This project relies on the resources of Essence Chiropractic.
